The first step to adoption is to fill out our adoption application to adopt Picchu.

Picchu is a 31-year-old Blue and Gold Macaw with no bad habits. Fun fact: “Picchu” means “mountain” in Classical Quechua, the language spoken by the ancient Incans.

Manu-Picchu is semi-tame and cage-territorial, and he will need an experienced macaw handler. We recommend a man as his next companion.

Picchu is very smart and active, and he loves to play with his toys. He truly needs a macaw-savvy human who is willing to be patient and work with him, and in return, he will be an amazing companion.

We offer different levels of adoption packages. The Manu-Picchu package includes a large cage and our reduced-care package with a reduced adoption fee.

Adopters must be stable and between the ages of 30 and 65 to adopt Picchu. Most experienced adopters know that large parrots can live between 40 and 80 years—or longer—with proper exercise, diet, and care.

Picchu likes both men and women. He has also lived with dogs, cats, and occasionally children. However, we do not recommend a home with children due to his cage-territorial behavior. It will take time for him to trust children, and Picchu generally trusts men more.

Manu-Picchu is very smart and active, and he loves to play with his toys. We prefer adopters with a minimum of one year of experience handling aggressive macaws—someone who is willing to be patient and work with him. In return, he will be an amazing companion.
